ChronosHub and ACS Publications Revolutionize Publishing with Unified Platform

Updated: Sep 16

ChronosHub, an open access management platform, has successfully gone live with its first publisher, ACS Publications, marking a major milestone in its journey less than a year after being acquired by the American Chemical Society. The new unified user experience, unveiled at the 2024 SSP Annual Meeting, has already engaged thousands of users. The platform integrates all author-facing systems into one streamlined interface, offering notifications, actions, and the ability to manage workflows more efficiently.

ChronosHub was founded in 2017 with the mission of simplifying publishing workflows for authors, institutions, and funders, particularly in promoting open access. Since the acquisition by ACS, the platform has remained an independent subsidiary, continuing to develop tools that streamline the complex publishing process. The introduction of the unified user experience represents a significant advancement in modernizing how authors interact with publisher systems, allowing them to manage all aspects of the submission process in one place.

Christian Grubak, Founder and Co-CEO of ChronosHub, emphasized the significance of the milestone: “Our priority has always been to provide cutting-edge solutions that meet the evolving needs of the publishing community, and we’re proud to have brought this vision to life so quickly. Seeing our first publisher go live within a year of development is a remarkable achievement, and we’re excited about the positive impact this will have on the author experience.”

ChronosHub’s new interface offers a streamlined system that integrates notifications and actions into a single platform. By eliminating the need for multiple systems, the interface ensures a more cohesive and efficient workflow for authors. This new experience has already garnered positive feedback, with thousands of users actively engaging with the platform.

Looking to the future, ChronosHub has ambitious plans to enhance the platform with additional features, including submission and reviewer dashboards, before the end of the year. These developments are aimed at further improving the capabilities of the platform for all stakeholders involved in scholarly publishing. Grubak added, “By putting an innovative layer on top of existing solutions, we help maximize publishers' investments while delivering a superior experience to authors.”
